Game fueling during the holidays

Whether you’re spending Thanksgiving at home or on the road we’re all familiar with how the meal goes: plates piled high with turkey and stuffing…mashed potatoes and gravy… bread, casseroles, and vegetables covered in marshmallows-

all followed up with pumpkin pie, heaps of whipped cream- and a nap on the couch.

Which is perfectly fine if you’re watching a game… not so much if you’re playing in one!

But, Thanksgiving games don’t mean skipping favorite holiday foods- just altering the timing a bit.

Limiting fats, increasing vitamins & minerals, and reducing portions is crucial to avoid cramping, bloating, fatigue, and mental fog.

Whether at home or on the road, try these small adjustments to holiday meals (and leftovers) when there’s only 3–4 hours before the game…

reduce turkey portions

choose salads & roasted vegetables over heavy casseroles

combine regular and sweet potatoes for mashed / roasted

hold off on the gravy and brussel sprouts

switch to whole grain bread instead of white rolls

wait on the whipped cream and ice cream

Good luck this holiday week and safe travels!
